Our Apartment...

...is looking pretty crazy right now. It is pretty much full of boxes all the way to the ceiling, and I can't figure out how we had everything hidden before. I want to take a picture, but my camera is in a box! Eric and friends are going to do the bulk of the heavy lifting (literally) tonight while I'm teaching lessons (that's just the way it worked out...), especially the piano and all that jazz. Then he and I will finish up with the weenie stuff tomorrow when I'm free. Then tomorrow and Sunday we'll unpack at the new house, Monday we'll come back and clean this place from top to bottom (and probably finish unpacking), and Tuesday we'll go see Wicked as a reward for surviving the ordeal!

First Day

Today was my first day at my new pianist gig at Sherwood Community Chapel in Kissimmee. The church family and staff are wonderful people, and I have already been welcomed into the congregation with open arms. Worship services are held every Sunday morning at 10:30 in Clubhouse 2 in the Sherwood Forest community. So if you wanna swing by some Sunday, you're welcome to do so!

A Great Song

You have to listen to this song.

You don't have to listen to the whole track if it's not your thing, but if you're friends with me, it might be your thing. Imogen Heap is an awesome artist I heard for the first time awhile back when the following song was featured in The Last Kiss with Zach Braff (yes, he was the only reason I went to see the movie), and I just recently started getting cravings for this song again. I don't really know what it all means, but sometimes I listen to it multiple times in a row. And I definitely sing along.

Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap

When you get to the site, click the play button on the right side of the page. This site limits you to only three plays of the song, so if you're craving more, let me know because I have more links.

Okay, I'm going to go listen to it again now.

I Love My Country

This year, no one but I will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the release of Trapper County War, an alleged action-adventure film that features two songs--and a cameo appearance--by my dad, Terry Pinder. These tunes include "Certified Fool" and "I Love My Country," which I think is great title (the song features a clever double meaning).

In honor of this milestone, here's a collection of some interesting country song titles. Some of these may be inaccurate, but they're still worth reading if you're bored.

Another Shooting at Half-Time(s)

According to Central Florida News 13, a man was shot early this morning in downtown DeLand at a popular Stetson hang-out, Half-Time (or, as most students refer to it, "Half-Times"). This is the second shooting at Half-Time in about as many years. Neither time was a Stetson student involved, but it's still creepy.

Despite this weirdness going on, Half-Time(s) seems to still be the place to be in DeLand, which should tell you a little bit about DeLand. When I was at Stetson, I tried to steer clear of it as much as possible anyway (and this was before any shootings occurred there) because the floor creaked and sagged. I know, it seems like just a tiny detail, but it's a two-story building and I never liked deciding between the lesser of two evils: potentially falling through the floor while on the second story, and potentially being fallen on top of while on the first story. Now, we are presented with the choice between the lesser of three evils: fall, be squished, or get shot. I choose none!

Assault with a Deadly Pet

The following article has nothing to do with our lives, besides the fact that I watch Project Runway and I'm a big fan of Season 5 villain Kenley's designs. And also that it made me laugh my jeans off, so I had to share it with whomever is reading. From IMDb:

Project Runway Designer Pleads Guilty To Disorderly Conduct

A former contestant on Heidi Klum's TV designer challenge Project Runway has pleaded guilty to a count of disorderly conduct after allegedly beating her former boyfriend with a laptop computer and throwing her cat at him as he slept.

Kenley Collins was arrested on 17 March and charged with two counts of assault, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment.

The 26 year old was fined $120 and handed a two-year protection order prohibiting her from contacting her ex, Zak Penley.

Our New House

I promised more information about the house we'll be renting for the next year. We signed the lease this morning, so now we have all the details!

The great thing about this house is that it was a bit of a hidden gem. A series of circumstances caused it to be a little under-marketed, which meant that, even though it would be considered very desirable, it went without a tenant for quite a few months. Because of that, we were able to make a much lower offer, which means we get ALL this for not much more than we're paying now:
  • 1300+ square feet
  • three bedrooms and two bathrooms
  • HUGE master closet
  • washer, dryer, stove, microwave, and dishwasher
  • awesome yard (not too big, not too small)
  • two-car garage
  • very pretty neighborhood with a tennis court
  • garbage pick-up
  • free moving truck rental

...and--wait for it--

  • our very own pool!

So, needless to say, we were very excited about our find, and the realtor we are dealing with is so nice. The house really is in great shape--it just needed a little TLC, such cleaning, lawncare, etc., which will be taken care of for us before we move in. It's located off of Old Lake Wilson Road in Indian Ridge near the Mystic Dunes Golf Club, and that's all I'll say for internet privacy and safety reasons. (Don't wanna tempt fate--or robbers.) If you are someone we know and love and you'd like to eventually send us some mail, contact us and we will give you our new address! If you are feeling especially strong and charitable on Monday, April 27, come on over and help us move if you want! Beer and pizza await you!

We're Moving!

Hey, everybody!

As we mentioned in our Pointless Update, we have outgrown our beloved 1-bedroom apartment. We were stressing out for a few weeks trying to find a new place to rent that would meet all of our needs, and we found a great place--a house! We haven't signed the lease yet, so stay tuned for more information at the beginning of next week. Yay!
